The ideas contributed towards the design included the one for the prominence given to the Bangladesh symbol Shapla. That idea came from the founding News Editor Shah M Azizul Haque who was deeply concerned about the need for an independent Bangladeshi medium to meet the needs of the community in the UK in 1980.
